Intro
The decisive advantage of a user-friendly evacuated blood collection system is that no further requirements are necessary to obtain a clearly defined quantity of blood from the patient's vein. VACUETTE tubes can be quickly and hygienically changed minimizing the risk of the phlebotomist coming into contact with the patient.

Point of Product
Plastic PET material
The entire product range of VACUETTE tubes are made out of a special type of plastic PET. In comparison to glass, this type of plastic has many advantages for use in blood collection.
PET is lighter than glass, unbreakable (cannot be broken easily) but solid, and lower waste disposal cost is needed.

Safety Cap -Hemoguard
Caps minimize the aerosol effect, thus minimize the risk of contamination, and because of the recess in the cap, eliminate any contact with blood droplets.
Rubber parts inside of the cap, prevent users from coming into contact with blood samples directly and are siliconized to prevent erythrocyte sticking.
Depending on the users environment, screw or push-off caps are available.

Sprayed Anticoagulant Coating

VACUETTE tubes prevent sample dilution and micro clot formation since a non liquid type anticoagulant is sprayed on the inner wall of the tube.
Components of the Gel don't affect the test results.

Long term of Validity

Degree of vacuum is consistently preserved for 18 months.

Eco-friendly : No Harmful Greenhouse Gases.

PET used by Greiner Bio-One consists of carbon, hydrogen and oxygen atoms; through burning, it is reduced to water and carbon dioxide and results in no harmful gases being generated. Under ideal incineration conditions only 0.2% of ash is produced from this plastic. The use of PET sees a reduction of just over 30% in the production of damaging ozone gases. (In comparison to the same quantity for glass).

Color Code

Cap colors correspond to the recommendations from the International Standards Organization (ISO 6710 ); just one glance is all that is necessary to determine the tube type. Cap rings are also color-coded for identification purposes.

Specification
VACUETTE Serum Tubes
The inner wall of the serum tube is specially coated with microscopic silica particles. These particles activate the coagulation process. Serum / gel tubes contain a separation gel in the base of the tube; during centrifugation, this gel forms a stable barrier between the serum and the blood cells. In the primary tube and under recommended laboratory conditions, certain parameters remain stable for up to 48 hours.

VACUETTE Heparin Tubes
The inner wall of the tube is coated with spray-dried lithium, ammonium or sodium heparin. These additives are anti-coagulants, which activate anti-thrombins, thus blocking the coagulation cascade of the blood specimen.

VACUETTE EDTA Tubes
Are offered as either EDTA K2 or EDTA K3 tubes. EDTA binds the calcium ions and therefore blocks the coagulation cascade. Erythrocytes, leucocytes and thrombocytes in an EDTA anticoagulated blood sample are stable for up to 24 hours. EDTA tubes are for the examination of whole blood in hematology.
VACUETTE Coagulation Tubes and CTAD Tubes
Coagulation tubes contain a buffered sodium citrate solution. It is available with a citrate concentration of 0.109 mol/l (3.2%) or 0.129 mol/l (3.8%). The mixing ratio is 1 part citrate solution to 9 parts blood. In addition to buffered sodium citrate, CTAD tubes contain theophylline, adenosine and dipyridamole. Coagulation and CTAD tubes are for examination of coagulation parameters.

VACUETTE Erythrocyte Sedimentation Rate Tubes
The erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR) can be used as a nonspecific search technique in case of suspicion of inflammatory reactions as well as for judgement of their development. VACUETTE ESR tubes are used for determination of ESR.

VACUETTE Glucose Tubes
Glucose tubes contain an anti-coagulant and a stabilizer. The tubes are ideal for glucose and lactate determinations.
VACUETTE Cross-match Tubes
Cross-Match tubes are available in two versions. The cross-match serum tube contains a clotting activator and is suitable for cross-match tests where serum is required for testing material. The EDTA cross-match tube is suitable where the testing material required is blood cells.

VACUETTE Trace Element Tubes
Are designed to test trace elements such as Cu, Zn, Pb, etc.

MiniCollect Tubes
MiniCollect Tubes are designed for the collection, transportation and processing of capillary blood (collected via lancet stick) from infants, children or geriatric patients in intensive care situations. Tubes are offered for diverse usage and with a choice of volumes. They can collect sample volumes between 0.25 to 1ml.
